Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is this about?
I am renting out the domain name "bedfordavenue.com". Basically, I'm granting you permission to use the domain name "bedfordavenue.com" for a period of 1 week, renewable week-to-week.

2. How can I use "bedfordavenue.com"?
You can use it to promote a local event [ perhaps a crafts fair, street fair, music event ], your business, or rental property. Create an ad or flyer, post it locally in and around the neighborhood, and point people to "bedfordavenue.com" for more info.

3. Why rent a domain name ?
Because it is often difficult and expensive to acquire the ideal domain name. Renting a domain is much less expensive and makes sense where the owner of the name allows continual renewals at the same rental price and transfers all the uses of the domain except ownership.

4. Do you offer hosting on the domain that I rent from you?
Sort of. Send me 1 or 2 html pages or a jpeg file [could be a flyer or similar type of advertisement] and I will upload that to my hosting provider. Anything more than that, and you're better off hosting it yourself.

5. How do I rent the domain and provide my own hosting?
Easy! Just let me know the nameservers to point to! I will change the nameservers to those of your host so  that you can put your website on the domain. I can also redirect the domain to a URL of your choice [domain forwarding].

6. What is the length of the rental agreement?
Rentals are available on a week-to-week basis, so you can cancel at any time with a rental.

7. What happens to the domain when the rental agreement has ended?
You are given the right to renew the domain, otherwise it will be rented again to someone else.

8. Can I get an option to buy the domain name with my rental agreement?
I prefer to rent the domain at reasonable prices, but I am always open to negotiations.

9. Who is responsible for renewing the domain name?
You are. You will be given notice two days prior to the end of the agreement to renew or not renew.

10. How does it work?

  1. The name of the person renting the name (please no company names).
  2. Their postal address.
  3. Their email address for the official contact.
